Welcome to “Our Mother of Sorrows Parish” this  weekend as we begin the summer month of August! £ Welcome to all visitors with us today! It's always good to have you with us and we hope you know you are always welcome!

£ Father Paul Bryan, our Redemptorist Missionary, did a magnificent job with the annual St. Ann Novena. All who attended gave him high marks. This was his first time at St. Ann’s and his first time in Erie. Everyone liked him and I hope that we can have him back sometime in the future. He is a wonderful holy priest!

£  As many of you know I spent most of the novena in the hospital but I did get home in time for the closing. I’m deeply grateful to all who worked so hard and kept the novena going during my absence. I must make special mention of Mary Wierzbicki who really coordinated everything and took care of all the details. Mary was there morning, noon, and night to oversee everything before, during, and after the novena. We are all deeply grateful to Mary Wierzbicki! I also must thank Dave Blum and Leon Slivinski and the members of the Divine Mercy Apostolate for all of their support and faithful attendance at all of the services again this year.  And a special thank you to the officers and members of St. Ann’s Ladies’ Society not only for the reception for Father Paul following the closing but also for their day by day assistance in everyway possible. I am grateful to my brother priests who assisted and filled-in for me in so many differents ways. Special thanks to Father Paul Bryan, our Redemptorist Missionary, Father Jerry Priscaro (who was present for all the novena Masses), Father Dan Prez, Father Stan Widomski, Father Rom Gmerek, Father Joe Gregorek, and Msgr. Jerry Koos, I am grateful to all! Thanks also to all of our lay ministers, our ushers, servers, organists, choir members, all who helped decorate inside and out, those who clean, prepare and setup and pack away! And to all who came everyday and prayed and sang and helped in anyway...I thank you, bless you, and I pray, “Good St. Ann, pray to her (Mary) for us and obtain our request!”...Same Time NextYear?”

£  Holy Family School will open for the 2010-2011 school year on Monday, August 30, 2010. The parent’s meeting will be on Thursday, August 26th. Please call Sister Kevin Berdis with any questions. Remember school lottery tickets are available in the business office or in the back of all three of our churches. What a great way to help reduce your monthly tuition bill!

£ Our next Food Pantry will be held on Friday, August 13th, at 9:30AM at St. Ann’s.

£  Faithlife, the diocesan bulletin is always available in all three churches. Take a copy home with you this weekend.

£ You are invited to hear the Warsaw Cathedral’s Men’s and Boy’s Choir perform at St. Peter Cathedral on Monday, August 16th, at 7:30 PM. The group is on an American Tour and will be in Erie for the day and overnight (if you would enjoy housing one or two of the choir members for the evening please contact Helen Gangemi for complete details. You will need to give them a place to sleep, and provide breakfast in the morning) on their way to Buffalo. They will sing in Latin, English, and Polish. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend. Call Helen Gangemi at 453-6677, ext. 8 for more information.

£ John Paul Kuzma is now officially Brother John Paul Kuzma, OFM Cap. He is now in Pittsburgh to begin one year as a novice before taking his vows. Please continue to remember Brother John Paul in your daily prayers.

£ Fr. Stan Widomski, OFM is still in town and doing well. He will offer the 8AM Mass on Sunday morning and hear Polish Confessions. He will fly back to his mission in Japan on August 4th. He hopes to retire in less than a year! Thank you Fr. Stan for everything and we will pray for your happy retirement! £ £ Congratulations to Ed and Gerry Gorecki who celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary today! May Gods richest blessings come upon them and Jess and Josh too!

£ A special welcome to Lucia Rovnak and Matus Rovnak who are visiting the Rovnak Family. Both young people are from Slovakia and visiting the USA for the first time. We are honored to have them visit our parish!

£ I am so happy to be back with you! It’s always so good to see all of you! Thank you for all of the prayers, cards, candles, good wishes, good thoughts and everything!
